Google Enables Safe Browsing in Chrome By Default

Google today said it has made Safe Browsing the default behavior in Chrome for Android. Any Android device running Play Services 8.1 and higher (which should be most) will have Safe Browsing mode turned on starting with Chrome 46. Google scours the web for malicious web sites and uses Safe Browsing to protect devices against malware and other pitfalls. Due to the vast number of dangerous sites, Google said it took time to find a way to cram all the necessary information into a small package so as not to run up users' data consumption and not run down users' batteries. End users shouldn't have to take any steps to be protected, but can make sure Safe Browsing is on via the settings menu.
