Google Fit A More Complete Fitness App With Latest Update
Google today announced changes to its Google Fit app that it believes make the service a better health and fitness companion. Google Fit now provides real-time stats for runs, walks, or rides, and can better record speed, pace, route, elevation, and more. Together with an Android smartwatch, Fit can track push-ups, sit-ups, and squats, all of which will be added to the daily activity tracker. Google Fit also gains more health insight thanks to new compatibility with nutrition and sleep apps, such as MyFitnessPal, and hardware such as the Xiaomi Mi Band and the Sony Smartband 2. Google said the new version of Google Fit will is rolling out over the next few days.

The Fit is Huawei's first full-fledged attempt at the fitness watch category. It aims to provide the looks and function of a smartwatch with the lightness and battery life of a fitness band or "dumb" watch.

Google Fit and Apple Health Can Now Talk to Google Calendar to Help Complete Goals
Google today announced new integration between its Google Goals tool and Google Fit and Apple Health. In order to help ease the process of meeting goals, Fit and Health can automatically record and mark users' goals in Google Calendar as "done." The tool is smart enough to see that if users set goals for something like "run at 6am" but never get out the door until 6:45, Goals will adjust automatically to reflect the user's actual behavior.
Huawei Fit Adds Heart Rate Monitor to Honor Band Z1
Huawei today announced the Huawei Fit, a watch-like fitness band similar to the Honor Band Z1, but with a heart rate monitor and additional fitness functions. It's designed to work with a companion app called Huawei Wear, available for both Android and iOS.
