Google today said that Jibe Mobile is joining the company to help it push rich communication services (RCS) to more people around the world. Specifically, Google and Jibe will work with mobile operators, device makers, and other players in the Android ecosystem to expand support for RCS standards. RCS is a newer standard for messaging that offers a richer feature set than the aging SMS standard. Google believes increasing RCS adoption will improve mobile devices users' chatting experiences the world over. Google said it expects this type of collaboration will take time and cooperation to implement.
