Possible Defect Has Stores Waiting For New Shipment of RAZRs

Updated Motorola has begun working with carriers to replace defective GSM RAZRs received by carriers in the month February. There was an issue with a component in some of handsets shipped last month which can cause them to randomly drop calls and reboot. Carriers that received the affected phones have been notified. Phone Scoop has received reports that many Cingular and T-Mobile stores have pulled their stock and suspended sales of all RAZRs. Alan Buddendeck, Motorola's Global Director of Public Relations, today said that Motorola has fixed the problem and will have RAZRs back on store shelves "in a matter of days."

Moto have been having problems for so long, there are other brands at there, wake up!

I work in a wireless store and all we see is return from Moto and this since years now!

How come people buy look and not quality? I been using all phones and my top recommendation was always Nokia top reception ok not always nice but they work well.

We have seems little glich over the last year with 6101 but they corrected fast and the 8801 guys work great!

After I would say if you know like the nokia phones buy a Samsung other that those two names, use the public phones or wait until you are back home to call!

the rest is up to you...

Don't Dare Over React!

Everyone needs to stop overreacting on this post. Cingular has offered this phone since Nov '04 and this is the first such product advisory. The fact of the matter is, the GSM version of the Razr gets higher RF ratings with Cingular than any other handset with any other major US carrier. Not only that but Cingular, by far, has the best drop call rate in the entire country. So the fact that for a single solitary weekend there wont be any GSM Razr's available that is no reason to declair it another V600. In no way shape or form is this anything like any other MOTO defect. This a simple issue that GSM carriers Cingular and T-mobile are aware of and handling accordingly in partnership with Motorola.
"Not only that but Cingular, by far, has the best drop call rate in the entire country."

Please provide some type of scoring or ranking to back this statement up.

Cingular drops calls in the Boston area like you wouldn't believe. Terrible Service, Terrible Customer Service.

The Razr is a great phone though. Luckily I have it with Verizon so I can actually make a decent call.
As a user with Verizon AND Cingular, who has owned multiple phones (like, 50?) for both, I'll shed some light on this person's comments.

1. I love Cingular, and would say that their network HERE at least is better than Verizon's. HOWEVER, Verizon...

I see lots of whiner here. Cingular works just fine for me, and customer service is very good.
1) According to consumer reports, Volkswagons, Verizon and Kenmore products are always the best. Interesting how CR is owned by Sears and Kenmore is a sears brand.......AND they always recommend discontinued crappy phones for AT&T/Cingular. A little...

I have the that Problem

I have that problem sometimes my phone just randomly starts to reboot. But the thing I have the V3c or the Verizon Razr. Is that a know problem?
Not that I am aware of, though I had 3 separate Verizon RAZRs before finally figuring out that they rushed them out for Christmas '05 and they sucked. Numerous issues with each one, plus of course the Verizon UI. Only had one phone without it (that ...

STAY TUNED...

I'm currently working on getting the facts about the dropped call study from somewhere other than our internal database. The information that we have imediate access to is proprietary and has to be kept within the company. I don't want to get fired for plastering it all over everyones face in this message board so be patient and I'll come up with the fax.

Now that's a stretch...I'm not thrilled with Moto's track record in regards to quality, but they've made some excellent handsets.

There we go again!!!!

v600 all over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are correct, It has been the way Motorola has conducted business since the Startac. Forget the quality focus on sales and marketing and let's ride it till the very very end.

Great. Now they just need to fix...

.. the ones that can't run Java content.

I've had a number of friends that try to install some game or application on them only to get an error that the "file isn't recognized". But I try it on mine and it works fine.
