Ingress Leaving Google Family
As part of its recently-announced corporate restructuring, Google will be parting ways with Niantic Labs, creators of the Ingress and Field Trip apps. Google will now be part of the larger Alphabet parent company. While companies like Nest will remain under the Alphabet umbrella, Niantic will spin out to be a completely separate company. Niantic's Ingress is a multi-player game that uses augmented reality to make the real word the playing field. The company's Field Trip app offers crowd-sourced suggestions on local attractions and businesses.

Google has updated its Google News product across all platforms with improved visibility of locally-sourced stories. The local source tag in Google News highlights local news outlets that have covered large, national news stories.
Google Calendar to Auto-Dial Conference Passcodes
Google Calendar for Android devices will soon help people dial-in to conference calls with fewer steps and less frustration. When users dial the conference call number through the Calendar app, the app will automatically add the conference passcode to connect to the right call.
