Google to Add Family Friendly Tools to Play Store
Google today said it plans to add a section to the Play Store that will make it simpler for families to find appropriate content. A new graphic, called the Family Star, will signify to consumers when content is rated for children. Parents will be able to search via age groups for apps, games, and even movies, TV shows, and music. Google said the family-friendly tools will be added to the Play Store in the months ahead.
Google Debuts Family Library for Play Store Purchases
Google today introduced the Google Play Family Library, which allows a single account holder to share purchases with up to six family members. Google says eligible app, game, movie, TV show, and book purchases from the Play Store can be shared across Android and iOS devices, as well as the web with no additional sign-up fee.
Google's Family Link App to Help Manage Kid Phones
Google today announced Family Link, an app and service parents can use to set up and monitor Android smartphones for their children. Parents can use the app to create Google accounts for kids younger than age 13, which is linked to the parent account.
Google Improves Family Sharing In Calendar, Keep, and Photos
Google today detailed how families can use their Google account to stay connected and in sync with one another. Google already allows people to share media via Google Play Music, Google Play Movies & TV, and Google Play Books.
Google Releases YouTube for Kids
Google today announced YouTube Kids, what it calls a family-friendly video app for children. The app has narrowed down the focus of content available to what's appropriate for younger viewers.
