Tango, maker of an over-the-top mobile messaging service, today plans to launch a new mobile shopping feature through partnerships with Walmart in the U.S. and Alibaba in China. Tango users will be able to browse through more than 2 million products available from the two retail sites and make purchases from within Tango's app. The service can be opened through a new button being added to the Tango app, and purchases will require users to store their credit card information with Tango. Users will also be able to create and share personal shopping catalogs with others. Tango has about 300 million registered users, of which between 75 and 100 million are in the U.S. Tango didn't say exactly when its revised app will become available.

I get it, but...

I get that Tango has to find ways to make money, but this has got to be the most irrelevant feature tacked onto an app that I've ever seen.

Next up: BlackBerry, in an effort to generate revenue, adds a "find the closest shoe store and car wash" feature to BBM.
