Amp'd Friday launched its service nationwide, with 2 additional handsets and new pricing. Customers will need to visit Amp'd's website in order to choose one of three handsets and order service and accessories. Amp'd will offer the Jet - a black slider from Kyocera based on the Slider Remix design, the Angel - a glossy white version of the Jet, or the Hollywood - a modified Motorola e815. Service will run $30 per month to $200 per month for unlimited calls and data. Downloads, including videos and music will cost extra. Dual music downloads to the phone and PC cost 99 cents, less than half of what Verizon or Sprint charges. Separately, MTV - which made a $30 million investment in Amp'd - announced they have also signed a deal with Virgin Mobile for exclusive content and sponsorships.

Verizon finally gave in !!

Sounds like the big one could use some cash allowing MVNO. I see a busy network in their future!! Big question..will they cripple bluetooth and other core functions on their service like the shady Verizon. Sounds like the only reason to get Verizon service now would be the m2m. Verizon should never allow Amp'd to be a part of their calling area. Digging the grave 😈
Also, last month I made 700 minutes worth of mobile to mobile calling..I would hate for that to go towards my peak minutes

Do you like Amp'd?

IMHO I am loving it. I work for Verizon so I have to compare it to them, as its all I know.

Pros:
-Works off Verizon NW, works in my area.
-99 cent DL's
-$29.99 plan for those who don't need 450 minutes.
-$10.00 Unlimited Texts to anyone, any provider, any e-mail or chat system, or $14.99 for unlimited Pix/Texts to anyone. So much better than any other provider on Texts.
-30 day trial period (not 15)
-$150 cancellation fee (vs other competitors this is cheap)
-All comrade phones
-Currently no deposits, either yay or nay on credit checks.
-$200 Unlimited Plan (yes you get 6k minutes with Verizon, but I have seen business ppl go over these, Unlimited is nice, plus the phone is free then)
-18 month Contracts!
-Fast and friendly ...

Sorry, spell check messed up, its CAMERA phones not comrade phones. Sorry about that.

Hollywood E816

This phone is not yet available thru the website.
The only two available for purchase right now are the slider phones.

Looks like those wanting the E816 will have to wait a little while longer.

It's good to see verizons real liscensed markets

Sorry, Amp'd Mobile coverage isn't available in your area yet, but it may be soon. For changes in coverage availability, check back here often.
lol.. do you know anything about Cell Phone Companies?

If VZW has coverage in an area due to roaming agreements they CANNOT issue a cell phone number from that area. So if you can get a # w VZW but not an # w/ AMP it's just they (AMP) aren't licen...

Hopefully They Won't Cripple MP3 Functionality the Way VCast Music and Verizon Did...

Currently, all 3 phones for Amp'd are listed as havin' mp3 support. GOOD.

I hope their music download service aint a 'VCast music clone' which will fark wit' mp3 playback the way that VCast does. The 99 cents/download price Amp'd is charging is more reasonable than the competition, so Amp'd may actually have one of most attractive music download services of any of the carriers.. IF they don't frack up the mp3s.
I totally agree, and think it would be a very unwise decision for Amp'd to do what Verizon did. Verizon can get away with stuff--like the crippled bluetooth for one-- because they already have an established customer base. If Amp'd wishes to be succes...

Math?

How does .99 makes less then half of 1.99? Oh, cuz 1.99/2=.995 witch is alot more then just plain .99

Wow! 😳
sprint's price is $2.50, Verizon's is $1.99, technically, 99 c is less than both those prices.
Why cry 'bout that? It IS less than half, after all.
$.99 if you dl from your computer, $1.99 if you dl from your phone, which then is sent to your computer. OkAy! jeez
