Verizon Improves BART Service with XLTE and HD Voice
Verizon Wireless today said it has completed upgrades to its service along portions of San Francisco's BART public transit system. Verizon has enhanced coverage with XLTE (1700MHz) throughout BART tunnels, stations, and the Transbay Tube. Verizon said the Colma to Millbrae section of BART will see similar service upgrades by the middle of the year. In addition to XLTE, Verizon Wireless' Advanced Calling 1.0 (VoLTE) with HD Voice service is also available throughout the BART system. San Francisco's BART transports 400,000 riders every day.
Verizon Expands XLTE to 6 More Markets
Verizon Wireless today marked the one-year anniversary of its XLTE service by expanding coverage to six additional markets. XLTE is now available in Marshalltown, Iowa; Madisonville and Owensboro, Ky.; Traverse City, Mich.; Meridian, Miss.; and Martinsville, Va.
Transit Wireless Brings Service to 20 Stations In the Bronx
Transit Wireless today said it has completed Phase 4 of its project to bring cellular and WiFi service to subway stations across New York City. Phase 4 adds coverage to 20 stations in the Bronx, as well as 17 stations in Manhattan.
Verizon Delivering Marshmallow to Galaxy Note 5
Verizon Wireless has made the Android 6.0 Marshmallow system update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. The phone gains the standard Marshmallow features, such as Doze and Now On Tap, as well as refreshed app icons and folders, Verizon's WiFi Calling service, and the most recent security patches.
AT&T, Verizon Intercarrier VoLTE Launch Target Comes and Goes
AT&T and Verizon Wireless are still working to launch support for intercarrier VoLTE, despite missing the initial target. The companies expected to allow one another's customers to connect VoLTE calls between them before the end of 2015.
