Apple and IBM have followed through on an announcement made earlier this year and delivered a range of mobile applications aimed at large businesses. The IBM MobileFirst for iOS apps rely on IBM's cloud services, which bring data and analytics tools to enterprise users of Apple's iPhone and iPad. Apple and IBM are targeting select verticals first, including banking, retail, insurance, financial services, telecommunications, government, and airlines. The apps are secure, embedded with analytics tools, and have deep hooks into enterprise processes. According to Apple and IBM, the apps can be customized for any type of business, as well as managed and upgraded thanks to IBM's cloud services. The companies said more apps, targeting a wider range of business types, are still under development and will be released in the future.
