T-Mobile Explores Expansion Options

In addition to purchasing new spectrum in next year's auction, T-Mobile may acquire smaller carriers to expand their network. When Deutsche Telekom confirmed they would be keeping T-Mobile, they re-affirmed their promise of $2 billion to the subsidiary for new spectrum. Yesterday a T-Mobile executive said the company may add acquisitions of smaller carriers into the mix. CFO Thomas Winkler says growth through both means is almost assured, and that the carrier now has to decide how best to divide their budget between acquisitions and auctions.

Suncom

I would hope that the first move would be to buyout SunCom.

T-Mobile needs more coverage in the Carolinas. 😉
Ask anyone that has SunCom in Myrtle Beach and they'll say that even SunCom needs more coverage in the Carolinas..

T-Mobile buyin' up regionals? GOOD, but..

Its great dat T-Mobile wants to get bigger, an' I think doin' that will help 'em, but ain't it a problem dat there are hardly any big GSM regionals out there to buy?

So if T-Mobile wants to get significantly bigger, they've gotta buy out a whole BUNCH o' GSM regionals. They're gonna have to gobble 'em up like Raisinettes.

Which might make integratin' all the networks an' the combined businesses kinda hard.
That's basically how Cingular started.

Good ideas Tmobile usa.. :) BUT.

great ideas for tmobile usa to expand in any way that they can.. the only thing that i question is that they only set aside $2 billion for new spectrum in the june 2006 auction.. i think that figure is 1. light and 2. a bit dangerous to disclose to the public and your competitors about that becuase the other carriers can just overbid so that tmobile has to pay more.

everyone knows that tmobile needs spectrum and other carriers would do anything to stop them.

there is an interesting article that i posted on the tmobile forum and i will post that on here.

Cellular One

Purchase Cellular One - Dobson please! Need T-Mobile in Northern Wisconsin/Upper Michigan.
NPI is what they use in Northern Michigan, so it would be more likely they'd purchase NPI.
