Google Grabs Gecko Design for Project X
Google today confirmed it has acquired Gecko Design, a mechanical engineering and design firm. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Jacques Gagne, president of Gecko Design, said he and Gecko's four employees will join Project X within Google. Project X is the internal unit responsible for Google's hardware projects, such as Google Glass, Project Ara, and Loon, its high-altitude balloons. Gecko Design previously worked on the One Laptop Per Child device, as well as gear for Fitbit.
