Sprint today announced a new promotion that will offer people big bucks to drop their carrier and switch to Sprint. Customers who bring their number to Sprint are eligible for up to $300 in credit when they trade in their current device. Further, Sprint will offer up to another $350 to customers who break their contract and are hit with early termination fees. Customers will have to submit their final bill from the carrier they are departing in order to receive reimbursement for the ETFs. The promotion, which requires that new customers sign up for a Framily plan, runs from April 4 to May 8. T-Mobile is offering similar dollar amounts to customers who switch, as is C Spire Wireless.

Here's what T-Mobile's CEO thinks

This is a copy / paste from John Legere's twitter feed (He's the CEO of T-mobile)

Hey @Sprint- Paying off ETFs 2 get people 2 switch is a great idea (I should know) but for just a couple wks? That’s #FruckedUp #Cheapskates
What about their customers thinking of leaving? they should focus on also keeping customers as well

So if you are on a no contract payment plan and want out they will cover it. Tmo will not in their program (which is probably why everyone is allowing people who are on contract to upgrade early if they switch to payments).
The difference is that Sprint is absolutely atrocious. Their coverage is crap and their data speeds are even worse. It boggles my mind how they are even in business. Anyone who goes from any service to Sprint is going from walking around with a Zippo...
