Qualcomm Intros 8-Core Snapdragon Chip
Qualcomm today announced new 600-series processor and radio chipsets for phones, including its first chip with eight main processing cores, the Snapdragon 615. A quad-core version, the 610, was also announced. Both chips support a high number of LTE bands, plus HSPA+ 42 and CDMA. LTE-Broadcast and LTE Category 4. The chips include Adreno 405 graphics, previously only available on the top-end 800 series chips. The 615 and 610 are also 64-bit chips. The first phones using the news chips are expected to ship by the end of 2014.
Huawei Takes Aim at Snapdragon 810 with Kirin 950
Huawei today announced the Kirin 950 chipset for phones, which is designed to compete with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800-series chipsets in higher-end phones. Huawei claims that the 950 is 25% faster and 44% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm's current flagship chip.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 450 Platform Jumps to 14nm Process
Qualcomm today announced the Snapdragon 450 Platform, a new entry in its mid-tier range of processors for high-volume devices. The Snapdragon 450 is the first 400 series chip to make use of Qualcomm's 14nm process, which provides it with noticeable performance and efficiency gains over earlier chips.
Qualcomm Renames 600 Series Snapdragon Chips
Qualcomm has changed the names of two 600 series Snapdragon processors. Specifically, the Snapdragon 620 and Snapdragon 618 will now be called the Snapdragon 652 and Snapdragon 650.

Qualcomm today unveiled the Snapdragon 820 processor, a top-of-the-line chip bound for flagship handsets and tablets. The 820 features a Qualcomm-designed, 64-bit quad-core Kryo processor.
Qualcomm To Build Wireless Charging Into Snapdragon Chips
Qualcomm revealed this week that it will start building AirFuel wireless charging technology into its Snapdragon series of SoCs (system-on-chips). The support will include all of the logic and primary circuitry to support both inductive and resonant wireless charging technologies.
