BlackBerry CEO John Chen took T-Mobile to task today for a campaign it recently ran suggesting that BlackBerry customers drop their BlackBerry in favor of a different smartphone on T-Mobile. In a post to the company's blog, Chen thanked BlackBerry's customers for speaking out in protest of the "clearly inappropriate and ill-conceived marketing promotion." Chen said it is working on a special promotion for T-Mobile BlackBerry customers that it will reveal soon. Chen finished by saying, "I would like to remind [T-Mobile] that our long-standing partnership was once productive and profitable for both BlackBerry and T-Mobile. I hope we can find a way forward that allows us to serve our shared customers once again. Notwithstanding the current challenge, we remain very excited about BlackBerry’s future."
Blackberry has one foot in the grave. I'd like them to come back to life, but at this point with so many corporate shifts away from the Blackberry platform, it's not difficult to see why T-Mobile would have done that. I hope Blackberry rights all their wrongs - I was burned with the Blackberry Storm and couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

Now I'm pro Blackberry, but I'm also pro longevity. Blackberry has to do something to grab customers, NEW customers and they are not doing that. I don't blame T-Mobile for trying to make more money, and grab new people. Blackberry needs to just release some great devices, at great prices. Don't worry about what everyone else is saying at this point, because they are way behind right now.
Too many sales people are still hung up on the old BB devices. A LOT needs to be done to improve how BB10 is offered, and not just default to the 2 way street of Apple and Google.
BB needs to get real about the price point of their devices. Selling the Z10 at iPhone prices was lunacy. If BB wants to compete in the consumer market, it needs to get it's pricing in line w/ a consumer market. Getting BB10 into the prepaid market cannot be understated. Many consumers are going this route. If I were BB, I'd consider turning all those write-downs of the Z10 into prepaids and get BB10 out there into the public's hands.
