Skype Makes Improvements to Chat Sync
Skype today revealed improvements to its mobile applications that answer common customer complaints. Moving forward, Skype will more reliably sync chat threads across multiple devices, be they smartphone, tablet, or laptop. The service now offers synced read receipts, as well, so users know their messages were delivered and read. The app has also been improved so that it opens faster, resumes quicker, and conserves power better. Individual apps for Windows Phone, Android, iOS, and BlackBerry should become available in their respective app stores over the next few days.

Skype today released Skype version 6.0 for Android and iOS, which completely redesigns the apps to make them more natural and intuitive. Skype 6.0 for Android tackles Material Design to give it a more native look; adds a floating action button for starting new conversations/calls; upgrades contacts search; and speeds up inbox management thanks to clearer read/unread indicators.
