Qualcomm Buys Palm and Other Patents from HP
Qualcomm today announced that it has purchased a number of patents from HP. The purchase includes about 1,400 patents and patents pending in the U.S., and another 1,000 patents and patents pending outside the U.S. According to Qualcomm, the patents pertain to mobile operating technologies and cover many of the patents HP acquired when it bought Palm. Qualcomm says the acquisition will help it offer "even more value" to its licensees. Neither Qualcomm nor HP put a dollar value on the patents.
Oppo Licenses Qualcomm 3G/4G Patents
Oppo today said it has agreed to license a number of Qualcomm patents pertaining to 3G and 4G technologies. Qualcomm says Oppo may now "develop, manufacture, and sell" 3G and 4G devices in China that use its WCDMA, CDMA2000, LTE-TDD, TD-SCDMA, and GSM technologies.

Via Licensing today said that Google has added its LTE patents to its broader pool of LTE patents. Via Licensing collects wireless patents from a broad range of companies with the intent of licensing them at fair and reasonable rates.

Nvidia today filed legal action against Qualcomm and Samsung, alleging both firms are violating patents it holds regarding graphics processing on mobile devices.
