A number of tier 2 and 3 carriers have banded together to pool purchasing and marketing resources. The Associated Carrier Group is currently made up of 4 US CDMA carriers which have chosen to band together in order to standardize handset requirements and together gain access to more appealing phone models. Their first victory came yesterday with the announcement that ACG members will be first to market with Kyocera's Slider Remix, the company's new flagship model that features a 1.3 mp camera, music player, and TransFlash card slot.

Show some muscle...

It's nice the smaller carriers are working together to outmaneuver the big boys.

It's a decent looking phone

The carrier I'm employed by is a member of the ACG and we recently started carrying the Remix. It's a pretty nice improvement from the SE44 we carried. Has a nice solid feel although the battery door cover is chincy. The backlighting on the demo we have only lights up the 2nd and 3rd column of keys. We'll see how it does once consumers can start buying it.

Out of curiousity, who makes up the ACG? Is it Cellcom, Cellular South, First Cellular of S. Illinois, and Midwest Wireless?
