Google Updates Gmail, Calendar, Maps for Android
Google today made a wide range of updates available to core applications for the Android platform. Gmail was updated with improved sync and outbox behavior, new contact photo behavior, and a new look. Google Calendar was updated with bug fixes and performance improvements. Google Translate was updated with wider device support for voice input, improved stability, and improved discovery of the keyboard. Last, Google Maps was updated with the ability to see flight, hotel, and restaurant reservations from Gmail. All four apps are free to update from the Google Play Store.

Google recently updated its Google Fit and Google Translate applications for Android devices. Google Fit gains several new and compelling features, including support for more than 100 new activities, experimental step detection (for walking when the watch isn't connected to a phone), and improved compatibility with Android Wear.

Google has updated Google Maps and now lets users access more personal information regarding their locations with a quick search. Google Maps culls more data from users' Gmail accounts and will automatically make event details available to Maps.

Google today provided updates to its Maps and Inbox apps for the Android platform. Inbox works better on tablets, adds compatibility with Android Wear (view messages and notifications, reply via voice), and improves suggestions while users type.
