Office Remote App Lets WP8 Devices Control Presentations
Microsoft today announced a new application for Windows Phone 8 devices called Office Remote. The app lets any WP8 device control a PowerPoint, Word, or Excel presentation. The app requires a Bluetooth-enabled computer with Office 2013 and a desktop plug-in. With all the components together, WP8 device owners will be able use their smartphone to advance slides, view thumbnails, jump between slides, access speaker cues, and more. Google today published a version of its Chrome Remote Desktop application on the App Store for iOS devices. The app allows iPhone and iPad owners to remotely access their home computers.
DropBox Lets iOS Users Create Word Docs On the Fly
DropBox today provided an update to its iOS application that lets users create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files from within the DropBox app even if the separate Office apps aren't installed. DropBox says users can create, edit, and share Office documents in the iOS app and then access them from other devices or from the web.
Microsoft Office for Windows 10 Hits Phones This Month
Microsoft today said Office Universal apps will be available to the Windows 10 platform for phones by the end of the month. The Office Universal apps work across desktop, tablet, and handset form factors.
