AT&T Lights Up 14 LTE Markets, Claims 461 Total
AT&T today expanded its LTE 4G footprint to 14 more markets around the country. The new metro regions include Fairbanks, Ak.; Galesburg, Macomb, and Peoria, Ill.; Des Moines, Iowa; Madisonville and Maysville, Ky.; Cumberland, Md.; St. Cloud, Minn.; St. Joseph, Mo.; Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; Gettysburg, Pa.; Big Spring, Texas; and Winchester, Va. According to AT&T, it now offers LTE in 461 total markets. It covers more than 250 million POPs and expects to cover about 270 million by the end of the year.
Sprint LTE and Spark Footprints Continue to Grow
Sprint today launched LTE service in 24 new markets and Spark service in an additional 24 markets. The company's LTE footprint now reaches 270 million POPs, while its Spark footprint reaches 125 million POPs.
T-Mobile Targets Rural Areas for 600 MHz Service, Starting with Cheyenne
T-Mobile today said it has activated its first 600 MHz cell site in Cheyenne, Wyo. T-Mobile is using Nokia equipment to provide LTE coverage across Cheyenne in the 600 MHz band.
Sprint Touts Network Progress
Sprint today offered a snapshot of the progress it has made deploying LTE around the country. According to its fourth quarter earnings, Sprint's LTE network now reaches 270 million POPs, up from 260 million in the previous quarter.
T-Mobile Details LTE Expansion Plans
T-Mobile CEO John Legere took to the company's blog today to shed some light on its plans headed into 2015. To start, the company claims it will cover 300 million POPs with LTE by the end of 2015.
