HTC Settles with MobileMedia Over Patents
HTC has agreed to license certain wireless patents held by MobileMedia Inc. As a result, MobileMedia today said it would drop its patent enforcement action against HTC and its affiliates.

Apple's Patent Consortium to Sell 4,000 Patents for $900M
Rockstar Consortium, a patent-holding company headed by Apple, has agreed to sell more than 4,000 mobile patents for about $900 million. Apple and partners Microsoft, BlackBerry, Ericsson, and Sony paid $4.5 billion for more than 6,000 patents from Nortel four years ago in order to help protect against litigation.
HTC 10 First Android Phone to License Apple's AirPlay
The HTC 10 smartphone, which runs Android, is the first to officially license Apple's AirPlay media streaming technology. The phone ships with a wide range of media streaming protocols as part of its HTC Connect software feature, including Google's ChromeCast, Qualcomm's Miracast, DLNA, and DisplayPort.

Or maybe just drove the real price of smartphones up another notch... Id like to see just how much all these BS patent cross-licensing deals add to the price of hardware.
I would like to see how much these patents add to software and hardware, either to use the patent or to work around them.
