Microsoft Delivers Bing Apps to Windows Phone 8
Microsoft today announced the availability of its Bing applications on the Windows Phone 8 platform. The apps include Bing News, Weather, Sports, and Finance. Each offers content culled from leading sources to deliver a wide range of information covering that particular subject. For example, Bing News lets users keep tabs on the latest headlines and videos of breaking news, as well as choose what types of news they want highlighted on their handset. All four apps are free to download from the Windows Phone Store.
Bing for Android Can Better Search Through Other Apps
Microsoft today updated its Bing Search app for Android devices and gave it the ability to perform searches from within other applications. The feature, called Bing snapshots, scouts things mentioned on any given page and provides relevant information about them in snapshots.
Microsoft Brings Bing to Android Lock Screen
Microsoft's Garage team recently released a new app for Android handsets called the Picturesque Lock Screen. The lock screen adds Bing's home page images to Android devices.
Microsoft Bringing Maps to Windows 10 Phones, Too
Microsoft today said the Universal Maps app for the Windows 10 platform is now available to phones running the Windows 10 Technical Preview. Device owners can download the Universal app via the Windows Insider program.
Bing for iPhone Let's You Search via Pictures
Microsoft has updated its Bing search application for the iPhone and added the ability to search for images captured by the camera. The tool, similar to Google Goggles, lets users take a picture and then use the picture to perform a search.
