Leap Parcels Out Small Sliver of Spectrum to C Spire
C Spire Wireless has purchased a 10MHz block of PCS spectrum from Leap Wireless for $6 million. The spectrum covers the market of Biloxi, Miss. C Spire operates along the Gulf Coast throughout Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, where is it planning to expand its LTE service. The spectrum purchase between C Spire and Leap must still meet regulatory approval. Leap Wireless is itself in the process of being acquired by AT&T.
C Spire Boosts WiFi Hotspot Access for iPhones
C Spire Wireless today expanded its WiFi On service to iOS devices, allowing its iPhone customers to more easily connect to some 20 million WiFi hotspots around the country. The WiFi On app is already available to Android handsets.

T-Mobile to Buy Chicago-Area Spectrum to Boost Coverage
T-Mobile today said it has agreed to buy 700 MHz spectrum from Leap in order to bring its "extended-range LTE" coverage to the Chicago metropolitan area. Specifically, T-Mobile is snagging A-Block 700 MHz spectrum covering Chicago, Elgin, Joliet, Waukegan, Evanston, Naperville, Aurora, Gary, Rockford, De Kalb, Janesville, Bloomington, Normal, Kankakee, Kenosha, and others.
AT&T No Longer Targeting 40,000 Small Cells This Year
AT&T recently dialed back language referring to its small cell deployments planned for 2015. The company said last year it would launch 40,000 small cells around the country to improve coverage and capacity by the end of 2015.
