AT&T Lights Up LTE In a Handful of Markets
AT&T today increased the footprint of its LTE 4G network by a bit. New markets that now have access to LTE include Greenville and Troy, Ala.; Merced, Madera-Chowchilla, and Vallejo-Vacaville, Calif.; New London County, Conn.; Sussex County/Rehobeth Beach, Del; and Columbia, Mo. Customers in these markets who have LTE-capable equipment should see faster wireless broadband service.
Sprint LTE and Spark Footprints Continue to Grow
Sprint today launched LTE service in 24 new markets and Spark service in an additional 24 markets. The company's LTE footprint now reaches 270 million POPs, while its Spark footprint reaches 125 million POPs.
Sprint Doubles LTE Plus Footprint
Sprint today said it has doubled the availability of its LTE Plus coverage from 77 markets in November to more than 150 markets today. Some of the new markets include Boulder, Colo., West Palm Beach, Fla., Cleveland, Ohio, and Syracuse, N.Y.
U.S. Cellular to Trial VoLTE
U.S. Cellular said it will begin testing VoLTE in a handful of markets later this year.
AT&T Finally Using WCS Spectrum for LTE; Will Test LTE-U
AT&T has begun deploying LTE on its 2.3GHz WCS spectrum in a handful of markets around the country. Earlier this year, AT&T said it would begin the deployment by summer, and it is just meeting that commitment.
Verizon Debuts LTE Advanced with 50% Faster Speeds
Verizon Wireless today said it has launched LTE Advanced service in 461 markets around the country, covering some 288 million POPs or 90% of Americans. Verizon's LTE Advanced relies on two- and three-channel carrier aggregation to boost speed and capacity.
