PalmSource is focusing all development efforts on developing a Linux based version of the Palm OS. CEO Patrick McVeigh said "we are delaying all development of products not related to this" during the Q4 results conference call. PalmSource acquired China MobileSoft last December for their mobile version of Linux with the intention of moving the Palm OS onto a Linux core. The company is developing two phone focused versions of the Palm OS. The feature phone version, which will have the Palm look and feel but is not expected to run Palm OS applications is expected early next year. A second smartphone version similar to PalmSource's current offerings will follow later in 2006.
