Verizon Launches New Smartphone, Combined Plans

Verizon today launched the Samsung i730 Window Mobile phone with EV-DO and Wi-Fi high speed data capabilites. The i730 features a touch-sensitive QVGA (320x240) screen that slides up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. The Pocket PC phone is available to business customers today for $600 with a 2 year service agreement, and will be available to everyone July 7. Verizon also announced new plans for the i730 and other smartphones and Blackberry devices that combine voice plans including unlimited night and weekend calling with unlimited data. The plans include 450 voice minutes for $80, 1350 minutes for $110 and 3000 minutes for $170. The plans offer a savings between $5, $15 and $25 respectively, over separately purchased plans with the same features.
