AT&T's LTE Footprint Reaches A Number of Smaller Markets
AT&T continues to increase the size of its LTE 4G network. The company has turned on LTE in a number of smaller markets over the last few days. The new markets include Mobile Ala.; Harrison, Eureka Springs, Alpena, Bellafonte, Berryville, Carrollton, and Valley Spring, Ark.; Waterbury and Meriden, CT.; Princeton, NJ,; Watertown, N.Y.; Athens, Ohio,; and Hilton Head, S.C. AT&T customers in these markets with LTE-capable equipment should see faster mobile data speeds.
AT&T Shows Off '5G Evolution' Mobile Hotspot
AT&T today announced the Netgear Nighthawk Mobile Hotspot Router, what it calls the first 5G evolution mobile hotspot. The device supports AT&T's test 5G networks in select markets, such as Austin, Texas, and AT&T's existing LTE 4G network everywhere else.
Sprint Doubles LTE Plus Footprint
Sprint today said it has doubled the availability of its LTE Plus coverage from 77 markets in November to more than 150 markets today. Some of the new markets include Boulder, Colo., West Palm Beach, Fla., Cleveland, Ohio, and Syracuse, N.Y.
T-Mobile Talks Up Coverage Improvements, iPhone Deals
T-Mobile said it has doubled the number of square miles covered by its LTE network over the last year, according to a blog post written by CEO John Legere. T-Mobile is on track to blanket another 600,000 square miles of area with LTE by the end of the year.
AT&T Preps More Than 100 Markets for 5G, Expands LTE-LAA
AT&T today said it has launched what it calls 5G Evolution in 117 new markets, bringing the total of pre-5G markets to 141. The company says its 5G Evolution technology can deliver theoretical speeds up to 400 Mbps to properly equipped phones.
