T-Mobile Launches LTE in Seven Markets
T-Mobile USA today launched its LTE 4G network in seven markets around the U.S. The new markets include: Baltimore; Houston; Kansas City; Las Vegas; Phoenix; San Jose, Calif.; and Washington, D.C. According to T-Mobile, its LTE network will cover 100 million Americas by the middle of the year, and 200 million by the end of the year. T-Mobile didn't specify which markets, after the initial seven, will be next to receive LTE coverage. T-Mobile also said which of its devices will be able to access its LTE network. They include the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy Note II, BlackBerry Z10, HTC One, and the T-Mobile Sonic 2.0 Mobile HotSpot LTE.
T-Mobile Targets Rural Areas for 600 MHz Service, Starting with Cheyenne
T-Mobile today said it has activated its first 600 MHz cell site in Cheyenne, Wyo. T-Mobile is using Nokia equipment to provide LTE coverage across Cheyenne in the 600 MHz band.
AT&T Shows Off '5G Evolution' Mobile Hotspot
AT&T today announced the Netgear Nighthawk Mobile Hotspot Router, what it calls the first 5G evolution mobile hotspot. The device supports AT&T's test 5G networks in select markets, such as Austin, Texas, and AT&T's existing LTE 4G network everywhere else.
T-Mobile Hits 741 Mbps with LTE-LAA, Deploys LTE-U
T-Mobile today said it, too, has successfully tested LTE-LAA in real-world trials. The company claims its LTE-LAA tests reached 741 Mbps in and around Los Angeles.
AT&T Preps More Than 100 Markets for 5G, Expands LTE-LAA
AT&T today said it has launched what it calls 5G Evolution in 117 new markets, bringing the total of pre-5G markets to 141. The company says its 5G Evolution technology can deliver theoretical speeds up to 400 Mbps to properly equipped phones.
