PalmOne Buys Back Palm Name

PalmOne has acquired the rights to the Palm brand. The Palm brand has been co-owned by PalmOne and PalmSource, the software branch of Palm, since the two companies were split. The hardware company has purchased full ownership of the name for $30 million. The company currently known as PalmOne will become Palm, Inc. again later this year. They will unveil a new logo for the Palm brand this summer and expect devices launched in the fall to bear the new Palm brand.

Apparently 30 million smackers! Was that a wise investment though?

I'd imagine the Palm board felt "PalmSource" to be too confusing to the general public? This probably buys them nothing more than peace of...
