AT&T Grants Sony TL Access to Jelly Bean
AT&T today announced that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is now available to the Sony Xperia TL. Some of the stand-out features include a new data usage calculator, more useful messaging notifications, a new camera interface with improved HDR shooting, and an improved battery management tool. AT&T also adds the AT&T DriveMode application to control the communications features of TL's that are inside moving vehicles. The update can be pulled down manually via Wi-Fi beginning today.

More Carriers and Phone Makers Agree to Adopt Google's RCS-Based 'Android Messages' Service
Google today said more wireless network operators and handset manufacturers will use Android Messages, its RCS-based messaging service, as the default SMS/MMS tool on their phones. (Android Messages was previously known as Google Messenger.) Some of the features of RCS, which is a global standard, include group chat, high-resolution photo sharing, advanced calling features, and read receipts.
Sony Xperia E4 Targets the Low End
Sony today announced the Xperia E4, an inexpensive Android handset that offers Sony style in a more economical package. The phone will ship in black and white colors and makes use of Sony's Omnibalance design language with a large screen lock button on the right side.
Sony Debuts LTE Variant of Xperia E4
Sony today announced the Xperia E4g, an LTE-equipped version of the E4, which it revealed earlier this month. Like the E4, the E4g features a 5-inch qHD display, but the MediaTek engine has been swapped out for a quad-core 1.5GHz processor with 1GB of RAM.
