Asurion Protecting Walmart Smartphone Customers for Free
Walmart today announced that its Android and BlackBerry smartphone customers now have access to free virus protection. Customers who subscribe to Walmart's MobileCarPlus handset insurance may download and use the Asurion Mobile Security application at no extra cost. Asurion's app scans for viruses and malware, and offers safe browsing alerts when surfing the web to protect against malicious web sites. The Asurion app also allows subscribers to more easily locate and retrieve lost or stolen handsets, as well as lock them or wipe their contents, should the need arise. The Asurion app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or BlackBerry World.

BlackBerry today outlined several changes headed to its suite of Android applications, including the general availability of the Privacy Shade. The Privacy Shade was first made available only to BlackBerry-branded handsets, but will soon be available to any Android handset that relies on the BlackBerry Hub+ service.
C Spire Boosts WiFi Hotspot Access for iPhones
C Spire Wireless today expanded its WiFi On service to iOS devices, allowing its iPhone customers to more easily connect to some 20 million WiFi hotspots around the country. The WiFi On app is already available to Android handsets.
Google Simplifies Searching For Lost Phones
Google today made improvements to its My Accounts tool that should help people better manage their Google settings as well as their smartphone. Users can now access their account by saying, "Ok Google, show me my Google account" into the Google Search app.
