Nokia and RIM Reach Patent Agreement, Call Off Lawsuits
Nokia today announced that it has reached a patent licensing agreement with Research In Motion. RIM will provide Nokia with a one-time royalty payment and then on-going payments for use of Nokia's patents related to Wi-Fi. The exact terms were undisclosed. The agreement also marks an end to all litigation between the two companies worldwide.
T-Mobile Outs Windows 10 VR Phone From Alcatel
T-Mobile today listed the "Alcatel IDOL 4S with Windows 10 VR" on its web site. The unique version of the Idol 4S not only runs Windows 10, but sports many of the upgrades available in the related BlackBerry DTEK60, such as the high-end Snapdragon 820 processor, 21-megapixel camera, and USB Type-C connector, none of which are in the standard Idol 4S.
Nokia and Samsung Settle Patent Licensing Deal
Nokia today said it has reached an agreement with Samsung over the licensing of its wireless patents. The companies have been disputing the value of Nokia's patents since Nokia sold its handset division to Microsoft.
Nokia and Samsung Expand Patent Agreement
Nokia and Samsung have broadened an existing patent cross-licensing agreement to include more intellectual property. The companies ended patent litigation between the two in February with an initial cross-licensing agreement.
Nokia and Xiaomi Sign Patent Agreement
Nokia today said it has signed an agreement with Xiaomi that will see the companies collaborate in a number of different ways. Nokia will provide Xiaomi with network infrastructure equipment and the companies will work together on optical transport solutions for connecting data centers.
LG Agrees to Pay Nokia Royalties, But Rates Not Settled
LG has signed a patent-licensing agreement with Nokia over smartphone technology, but the companies have yet to agree on pricing for the patents. Nokia may have sold its handset business to Microsoft, but it retained many of the related patents for licensing purposes.
