Apple today made the iPhone 5 available for sale unlocked and without a contract through its U.S. web site. The 16GB model costs $649, the 32GB model costs $749, and the 64GB model costs $849. All three models list as shipping in one week. The iPhone is also still available with a contract from AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon Wireless. According to Apple, the unlocked iPhone will only work on GSM networks such as those run by AT&T or T-Mobile. Unlocked iPhones will not work on Sprint or Verizon's networks. Travelers will be able to use unlocked iPhones on the GSM-based networks of foreign carriers.

android vs ios

Android:
Very Versatile
Has many options for example stock, sense, touchwiz, 4 inch to 5.5 inch screen
Has customization option to personalize your phone
4.0+ make for the most reliable and smooth experience

iPhone:
Comes in only one model per year
Very little option
Can not personalize it
same look since 2007
Sluggish performance after the next year update
higher quality apps
have to jailbreak phone to get half the app android has
cost more for unlock device
Also android doesn't almost bankrupt a phone company just so the phone company can sell it.

Android:
-Doesn't get upgrades to new OS's after 6 months in 95% of cases
-Sometimes doesn't get upgrades to new OS's at all
-Has a near useless copy+paste functionality
-Has almost universally inferior apps to iOS
-Has Widgets! So you can wait ...

Because there are plenty of people out there that like the iPhone more than Android, people who don't see it as a number game of specs and just like the interface and simplicity.

People with more money than sense, really.

That's a pretty big thing to lose out on. Paying the extra $300.00 is a fraction of the 1,000.00 over the course of a year.

Real world speed differences on AT&T's HSPA vs LTE network are
