Facebook and Foursquare iOS Apps Gain New Powers
Facebook and Foursquare both updated their iOS applications today with new features. Facebook for iOS adds the ability to see who's logged into Facebook Messenger with a simple swipe to the left, adds a new favorites feature in the messenger app, and adds the ability to send gifts to Facebook friends. The app also makes it easier to share multiple photos at a time. The new version of Foursquare for iOS adds a new rating system for venues viewed in the Explore tab. Foursquare devised its own rating system for venues based on likes and dislikes, check-ins, tips, and general popularity of the venue. Facebook and Foursquare for iOS are both free upgrades from the App Store.
Facebook Messenger Expands to Apple Watch
Apple Watch owners can now read their incoming Facebook Messenger messages on their wearable. A recent update to the iOS app adds compatibility with Apple's smartwatch.
Facebook Adds Ride Hailing to Messenger
Facebook updated its Messenger app today with the ability to hail rides from select car service providers. The first partner is Uber, but Facebook plans to add others, such as Lyft, soon.
Facebook Messenger Adds Group Payments
Facebook today made it possible to pay groups of people within Messenger. The app has supporter peer-to-peer payments since 2015, but they were limited to single people.
Facebook Adds Fun Tools to Photo Uploader for iOS
Facebook has updated the photo uploader in its iOS app and given users the ability to make creative edits as they go. The new uploader lets people preview and apply filters by swiping left and right, easily add text, and plaster images with stickers from the Facebook sticker store.
