NextWave Shareholders Approve AT&T Merger
NextWave Wireless today announced that its stockholders have agree to allow AT&T to acquire it for its spectrum assets. AT&T filed plans with the Federal Communications Commission seeking permission to acquire NextWave wireless earlier this year. The transaction, which is valued at about $600 million, will give AT&T a number of AWS and WCS spectrum licenses around the country. The FCC has yet to approve the deal.
AT&T Targeting Summer Launch for LTE in WCS Spectrum
AT&T plans to begin deploying LTE service in its 2.3GHz WCS spectrum holdings this summer. AT&T acquired some WCS spectrum from NextWave in 2012 and more from Sprint in 2014.
T-Mobile and Verizon Agree to Another Spectrum Swap
T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless have petitioned the FCC for permission to swap AWS and PCS spectrum licenses in 92 counties and/or 41 Cellular Market Areas around the country. The companies propose to switch spectrum licenses, but not cellular assets or customers.
Verizon and T-Mobile Agree to $173M Spectrum Swap
Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile have agreed to exchange AWS-1 and PCS spectrum in dozens of markets around the country in a deal valued at $173 million. The spectrum in question covers portions of Arkansas, California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Virginia.

AT&T and T-Mobile recently filed paperwork with the FCC seeking permission to swap spectrum assets. The companies are looking at PCS and AWS spectrum in a handful of markets.
FCC Hands Out More AWS-3 Licenses to Auction Winners
The FCC has delivered more licenses to winners of the AWS-3 spectrum auction, which concluded earlier this year. The bulk of licenses granted this week were given to Orion Wireless LLC and Geneseo Communications Services, and cover areas of Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
