Bidding on Auction 58 closed yesterday raising a total of $2.25 billion in 91 rounds of bidding. Metro PCS's $374.5 million dollar bid for Los Angeles remained the highest single bid for a lot since the first day. Metro PCS also won spectrum in a number of mid-sized cities in Florida, helping their proxy to remain the top bidder. Verizon had two proxies, finishing second and third in spending, and so was the top bidding tier one carrier. They won lots all over the country, most notably spending $141 million for St. Louis and winning one of the hotly contested lots in both Houston and San Diego. T-Mobile was high bidder for one of the lots in both Seattle and Cleveland, but couldn't keep up with the high bids for Houston. Cricket took the second Houston lot, beating back T-Mobile, as well as winning one of the San Diego lots they wanted so badly when the auction began.

To live or die in Houston.

If Tmobile so desperately needs new spectrum, why aren't they bidding more fiercely for it?
I'm thinking TMobile just didn't have the funds available to bid higher on the spectrum. More than likely they have their funds placed on some other upgrade/improvement to their system.

$Cha-Ching$

Wow, those are som large figures. I wish I had that kind of funds 😛 .

On a more serious note, how long is it going to be before these companies start to take advantage of their new found spectrum? I'm guessing at least a year.
