FTC Approves Facebook's Instagram Acquisition
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has completed its review of Facebook's proposed acquisition of Instagram and will allow the deal to move forward. Facebook announced plans to buy Instagram for $1 billion in April in a deal that includes $300 million in cash and additional stock purchases. According to Facebook, it will continue to allow Instagram to operate as an independent mobile application. It believes the acquisition will improve its photo product offerings and increase photo sharing amongst users of Facebook.
Instagram for Windows Grabs Huge Update
Facebook today announced three new apps for the Windows 10 platform, including a proper Instagram app for phones, and dedicated Facebook and Messenger apps for desktops. The Instagram app for Windows 10 Mobile includes features that have long been available only to the Android and iOS apps, including Instagram Direct, videos, the Explore tab, and more.
Sharing Photos to Instagram from the iPhone Just Got Easier
Instagram has updated its iOS application with an important new feature that will improve the picture-sharing experience. Instagram version 8.2 enables share extensions, which make it possible to share photos to Instagram from within other apps.

Instagram today announced a new app called Layout, which helps people create photo collages on their smartphones. The app portends to make it easier to assemble collages through custom layouts, easy access to photos containing people, and a handful of tools such as pinch-to-zoom and other effects.

iPhone users can now enjoy looping videos in their Instagram feed. The picture-sharing app recently pushed out an update that adds the feature.
