Google Play Store Gets Very Own Gift Cards
Google today announced that consumers will be able to purchase gift cards for the Google Play Store at RadioShack, GameStop, and Taget stores. The gift cards, which will become available over the course of the coming days and weeks, are initially available in $10, $25, and $50 increments and can be used toward the purchase of apps, books, music, movies, TV episodes, and other content available in the Google Play Store.
Google Wallet Now Stores Gift Cards
Google this week released a new version of Google Wallet that can capture, store, and manage gift card info. Users can add gift cards via the camera or keyboard, then show a barcode on the screen to redeem the card.
Google Play Store Begins Adding 4K Movies
Google today said the Google Play Movies & TV store is now offering a small selection of 4K (Ultra HD) movies. About 125 titles can be purchased or streamed in 4K.
Google to Add Family Friendly Tools to Play Store
Google today said it plans to add a section to the Play Store that will make it simpler for families to find appropriate content. A new graphic, called the Family Star, will signify to consumers when content is rated for children.
Amazon Makes Mobile Wallet App Available
Amazon recently released a mobile wallet application for Android-based smartphones. The app, which Amazon has labeled a beta, lets people store gift cards, loyalty cards, and membership cards, which can be scanned or typed directly into the app.
