Google today announced that it has rolled out 3D imagery to the iOS version of Google Earth. The new version of Google Earth, which is a free download from the iTunes store, works on the iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and new iPad with Retina Display as long as they are running iOS 4.2 and up. Users of these devices can now fly through 3D cityscapes and follow virtual tours within Google Earth. The 3D imagery is first available in Los Angeles, Boulder, Boston, Charlotte, Lawrence, Kan., San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Cruz, Tampa, Tucson, Long Beach, Portland, Ore., Geneva, and Rome. Google said that more 3D cities will follow in the coming weeks.
