Panasonic Readying New Series 60 Smartphone

The FCC today approved the Panasonic X800, a new GSM smartphone based on the Series 60 platform. The device has similar features to the current X700 model, but in a sleeker, ultra-slim design with an internal antenna. Features include tri-band GSM, Bluetooth, miniSD card slot, camera with flash, dual color displays, speakerphone, and speaker-independent voice dialing.

Specs have it for GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900. Looks like Europe and maybe T-Mobile USA.

The X700 never came to the U.S., and Panasonic doesn't seem to be very active with U.S. carriers right now, so I'm guessing this one will be import-only.

Yay! Panasonic brings this to the US finally!
This has to be my favourite phone. It's been released in Japan for awhile as "P900i" and its souped up version (featured in "Final Fantasy: Advent Children") "P900iv". Link to the P900i (Japanese page):

I think this phone has a pretty good look. I wonder which carrier will get it??? Could possibly blow the razor away...

Just by looking at the picture, the phone is not nearly as slim as the Razr. It's also plastic on the inside. The only extra thing I see so far is the camera flash. The series 60 OS is definately a plus, but I don't expect a Razr "killer" here. It wil...

Finally another Panasonic!
I really hope CW gets this phone. I had the GU87 with AT&T Wireless and that phone was great! I was sad when it got wet because my insurance replaced it with the NEC 525. What a bad trade. I know that alot of people had trouble with the GU87, but mine worked flawlessly. Hopefully, they will bring it to the US.
Maybe it will be a Cingular exclusive like the Razr or the new Treo 650, which is Edge capable.
