Foursquare for BlackBerry Adds NFC Support
Foursquare recently updated its BlackBerry application to version 3.9. The most significant new feature of the app is support for NFC for checking into venues. The revised app also pushes notifications (badge alerts, messages, comments) into the main inbox on the device. The app is free to download, but requires BBOS 7.1 for the NFC features.
Target Adds Mobile Payment Feature to its App
Target today made it possible for people to make in-store payments with their smartphones through the Target mobile app. Similar to Walmart’s offering, shoppers can link their debit cart to the new Wallet function within the Target app.
BBM Gains Private Chat Mode
BlackBerry today pushed out an update to the Android, BlackBerry, and iOS versions of its BBM app and added several new features. The main new addition is a private chatting mode that strips conversations of names and profile pictures.
BlackBerry Makes BBM Privacy Features Free
BBM users now have more control over their messages thanks to an update BlackBerry made available to Android, BlackBerry, and iOS devices. All three platforms now have unlimited use of the Retract and Timer features.
Facebook Pulls Support for BlackBerry 10, BBOS
Facebook has decided to cease supporting the BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry OS platforms. The company has chosen to discontinue its essential APIs for BlackBerry, effectively breaking the existing app.
