Nokia today announced that it is offering a version of the Lumia 610 smartphone with near-field communications on board. The NFC-equipped 610 will be sold by Orange in Europe. Nokia said the Lumia 610 NFC can be used for mobile payments and ticketing services. It has been certified for contactless payments both with MasterCard PayPass technology and with Visa's payWave mobile application. Nokia has not yet announced plans to bring the Lumia 610 to the U.S., but Nokia said it plans to add NFC to all its smartphones over time.
