Pantech Crossover Earns its Gingerbread Stripes
Pantech and AT&T recently made the Android 2.3 Gingerbread system update available to the rugged Crossover smartphone. The Crossover shipped with Android 2.2 Froyo, and the update brings a number of new features and performance improvements to the Crossover. The update must be installed via a Windows-based computer, and is not available for download and install over the air. Instructions are available on Pantech's web site.
OnePlus 5 Earns Its First Software Update
OnePlus pushed a small bug-fixing update to the OnePlus 5 over the weekend. According to the change log, the improved software resolves app installation and system update failures.
Hyundai Makes Android Auto and CarPlay Available As a Do-It-Yourself Install
Hyundai today made it possible for owners of select models to install Android Auto and CarPlay themselves. Hyundai owners will need to download the navigation system update from Hyundai's web site to a USB drive or SD card and then update the car manually.
Nexus 6 Earns Android 7.1.1 from Google
Google this week said the Nexus 6 smartphone from Motorola should receive the Android 7.1.1 update in the days ahead. The updated system software installs the new app shortcuts, round app icons, the image-enabled keyboard with new emoji, and various bug fixes.
ZTE's Axon 7 Scores Android 7.1.1
ZTE today began pushing Android 7.1.1 to its Axon 7 flagship smartphone. The Axon 7 is one of the first devices other than Google's own Pixel handsets to receive this update.
