AT&T: 12 More LTE Markets Launching Soon

AT&T today announced that its LTE 4G network will arrive in 12 new markets in the coming months. The new markets include Cleveland, Akron, and Canton, Ohio; Naples, Fla.; Bloomington, Lafayette, and Muncie, Ind.; Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Lou.; St. Louis, Mo.; Bryan-College Station, Texas; and Staten Island, N.Y. LTE will be rolled out to these cities during April, May, and "into early summer," though AT&T declined to provide specific launch dates. According to AT&T, it currently covers 28 markets and 74 million POPs with LTE. AT&T said that its LTE 4G footprint will double — to approximately 150 million POPs covered — by the end of 2012. AT&T expects its LTE rollout to be complete by the end of 2013.
T-Mobile Targets Rural Areas for 600 MHz Service, Starting with Cheyenne
T-Mobile today said it has activated its first 600 MHz cell site in Cheyenne, Wyo. T-Mobile is using Nokia equipment to provide LTE coverage across Cheyenne in the 600 MHz band.
T-Mobile Says LTE Footprint Now Matches Sprint
T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray said the company's LTE 4G network now covers 280 million POPS. That's a slight improvement from the 275 million POPs T-Mobile said it covered at the end of April.
Sprint Doubles LTE Plus Footprint
Sprint today said it has doubled the availability of its LTE Plus coverage from 77 markets in November to more than 150 markets today. Some of the new markets include Boulder, Colo., West Palm Beach, Fla., Cleveland, Ohio, and Syracuse, N.Y.
AT&T Preps More Than 100 Markets for 5G, Expands LTE-LAA
AT&T today said it has launched what it calls 5G Evolution in 117 new markets, bringing the total of pre-5G markets to 141. The company says its 5G Evolution technology can deliver theoretical speeds up to 400 Mbps to properly equipped phones.
