Cingular Completes Public Phase of AT&T Wireless Takeover

updated Just three weeks after officially acquiring AT&T Wireless, Cingular today announced the launch of the "new" Cingular throughout the U.S.. Last night, while stores were closed, more than 14,000 employees across the U.S. performed an after-hours makeover of more than 1,000 former AT&T Wireless locations. Each store now has a full inventory of Cingular phones, accessories and signage. Another approximately 10,500 agent locations will be converted in the coming months. AT&T Wireless phones and plans are no longer being sold in company stores, nor on the attwireless.com website. Employees throughout the U.S. have completed more than 2.2 million man-hours of new training to ensure a smooth transition.
AT&T Resurrects the 'Cingular' Brand for Flip Phone
AT&T recently added the Cingular Flip to its lineup of inexpensive feature phones. The phone is made by TeleEpoch and bears the model number M3620, but AT&T named it the Cingular Flip to give it some visibility.
Verizon to Shutter Some Offices, Eliminate Jobs
Verizon has informed employees that it plans to reduce the number of regional offices around the country and correspondingly reduce headcount. The company has 20 regional locations, which it plans to pare down to just six.
Cricket Expands Retail Footprint to 1,000 Best Buy Stores
Cricket Wireless today said Best Buy has agreed to sell the prepaid carrier's phones and services at some 1,000 stores around the country. The ZTE Fanfare and HTC Desire 625 are available from Best Buy's web site starting today, and will reach Best Buy's retail stores over the next few weeks.
Starbucks Officially Debuts Wireless Charging in Shops
Starbucks has begun to deploy wireless charging stations at select coffee shops in the San Francisco Bay Area. The company said 200 stores now offer wireless charging spots on tables and coffee bars.
Sprint Phones Vanishing from Walmart
Sprint's presence at the nation's largest retailer has dwindled in recent weeks, according to Fierce Wireless. Some 500 Walmart stores across the country continue to sell Spint handsets, but the majority of Walmart's 4,177 brick-and-mortar locations no longer have them in stock.

for me I see no incentive to drop my current plan that
was with AT&T.
RIght now I have 400 min and 200 bonus min for life if I don't
change my plan, thats 600 a month for 39.99.
With this comes free incoming messages, #121 service included and unlimited mobile to mobile, the Cingular "regional" plans don't offer M2M.
BTW, I have a regional plan at the moment, I never leave
