Nokia Makes Progress with 1xEV-DV Chipset

Nokia today announced that its CDMA2000 mobile station chipset supporting IS-2000 Release C (also known as 1xEV-DV) is on schedule for field trials with CDMA operators during the 2nd half of 2003. Nokia plans to develop and market new phones based on Nokia-designed CDMA2000 1x EV-DV chipsets. Nokia is currently in discussions with multiple CDMA stakeholders to cooperate in 1xEV-DV interoperability testing and field trials.
T-Mobile to Begin Testing 5G Later This Year
T-Mobile will commence trials of 5G technologies with partners Nokia and Ericsson during the second half of the year, says Nokia. The companies plan to use the 28GHz band for testing, which is one of the bands proposed for 5G usage.

Microsoft today indicated its branding transition from Nokia Lumia to Microsoft Lumia is progressing as planned. Microsoft has slowly been rebranding apps, services, and web sites from Nokia to Microsoft.
Nokia Pins Smartphone Comeback on HMD Global
Nokia today said it plans to return to the smartphone business during the first half of 2017 through its partnership with HMD Global. HMD Global recently completed a series of transactions between HMD, FIH Mobile Limited, and Microsoft that will allow it to make phones bearing the Nokia brand.
Nokia Forms Alliance to Standardize Mobile Transit Tickets
Nokia's HERE Maps division and other companies today announced the Open Mobile Ticketing Alliance, a new organization they hope will create a single, global standard for NFC-based mobile transit tickets. The goal of the OMTA is to develop a "register once, travel anywhere" system that's interoperable with payment vendors and transit operators around the world.
