AT&T Wireless yesterday said it will shut down its CDPD data network on June 30, 2004. The company said the network is redundant now that it has finished building its GPRS network, which offers higher speeds and better coverage. AT&T orginally sold CDPD service to consumers as PocketNet, but ceased selling that service in April. The company will stop selling the service to businesses in March 2003. Existing customers will be able to continue to use the service for the duration of their contracts.
