FCC Presents Options For Resolving Auction Mess

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today presented two options for letting mobile telephone carriers pull out of the controversial sale of spectrum from bankrupt NextWave Telecom. One option includes allowing carriers like Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile, among others, to walk away entirely from the auction. The other scenario would allow carriers to opt out of specific licenses they no longer wanted to pursue. The agency gave the public until Oct. 21 to comment on the proposals.
