AT&T Expands Voice Capacity, Roaming Coverage

AT&T Wireless made a slew of announcements yesterday. First, AT&T has announced that it will deploy Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) technology on its new GSM network. AMR offers enhancements that can more than double voice capacity. New phones supporting AMR will be offered later this year. AT&T also announced that it has signed more than 25 roaming agreements with international GSM carriers serving 24 countries including England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Spain and Taiwan.
